3. A Damaged Charging Socket
If the charging plug feels loose, only works at a particular angle or causes the charging light to flicker, the laptop’s charging socket may be damaged.

6. Overheating or Internal Dust
Years of dust can block the cooling system and prevent heat from escaping. The laptop may begin by running loudly, slowing down or shutting off unexpectedly. Eventually, it may stop starting properly.
A professional internal clean may involve removing compacted dust, servicing the cooling system and replacing dried thermal compound. Simply blowing air through the outside vents may push debris further inside without solving the underlying problem.
7. A Motherboard or Power-Circuit Fault
A liquid spill, electrical surge, failed component or damaged charging circuit can leave a laptop showing no sign of life.
This does not automatically mean that the entire motherboard must be replaced. Component-level diagnosis can sometimes identify and repair the individual part responsible for the failure, making the repair more economical.
Even when repairing the laptop is not worthwhile, its storage drive may still contain your photographs, documents and other important files.
What Should You Do First?
Start with a few safe checks:
- Confirm that the wall socket works.
- Check the charger and cable for visible damage.
- Disconnect unnecessary USB devices and accessories.
- Look and listen for lights, fans, beeps or other signs of power.
- Do not repeatedly force a loose charging connector.
- If liquid has entered the laptop, disconnect the power and stop trying to turn it on.
Repeatedly attempting to power up a liquid-damaged laptop can cause additional electrical damage. Do not put it in rice, use a hairdryer or place it near direct heat.
